Session Minutes Highlights

September 26, 2016 

 

  • Opening prayer led by Mark Hinchcliff 
  • Devotions and prayer given by Bill Kirby
  • Treasurer’s report: 
    • Checking account balance is $22,165.36. Contributions are coming in at about 84.5% of budget. Selected third quarter statements will be sent. Morgan Stanley funds are $1,085,660.47.
  • Pastor’s Report:
    • Led service of communion September 4 at both services and the Extended table at King’s Grant September 6, 2016.
    • Youth contacts and activities included planning with Monica Stevens for confirmation classes scheduled to begin October 2; Corn Maze Project; Las Posadas Youth Instrumental recruitment; Fellowship of Christian Athletes Development Team.
    • Hospital and Home visits
    • Mission Projects: Las Posadas Church Outreach; Acts 4 Men’s Shelter Project Rebuild Volunteer; Back 2 School Outreach Project Follow Up Assessments.
    • Agape Ministry Joint Oversight with Monica Stevens.
    • Administrative commission with Presbytery of the Peaks and Administrative Council New Member
    • Attended a Strategic Planning with Second Presbyterian, Roanoke, VA with Bill Kirby.
  • Approved a motion to extend to Mark Hinchcliff and Rita Bateman the same Board of Pensions benefits for 2017 as was extended in 2016.
  • A motion to add prayer requests to Steeple Views Weekly was approved.
  • The church picnic will be October 9 weather permitting.
  • Motion to cease committee night December 12 so people can attend the Smith River Singer’s Concert was approved. Committees can schedule meetings as needed.
  • Elected Victoria Esarey as Commissioner to attend the November 17 presbytery meeting.
  • Next stated session meeting October 24.
