Church Committees

Committees are one way we as Presbyterians get our work done: by working together to achieve a common goal. Consider joining one of the committees to use your time and talents and a great way to get to know your church family!

This committee takes care of the business of the church, including personnel matters.

Communication committee overseas all communications from the Session and committees to the congregation and the general public through bulletins, calendars, Church Directory, eblasts, Facebook, Member Directory, newspaper,  photography, Steeple Views, TV announcements, and web page.

Learning is a life-long endeavor for all Christians.  The Christian Education Committee is responsible for providing educational opportunities for children, youth, and adults, so all people in our congregation and the community have opportunities to grow in their Christian faith.

The Congregational Care and Fellowship Committee provides care, support and prayer for families and individuals at the various stages, places and circumstances of life and cultivates a spirit of community and service for one another. They develop systems that promote a supportive faith community, seeking to bring genuine nurture, encouragement and care to each generation of our church as we join together as brothers and sisters in Christ to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

This committee also plans and provides events that give members opportunities to socialize, become better acquainted with each other, and nurture friendships and fellowship within the church.  Such events might include picnics, dinners, lemonade on the lawn, receptions, coffee time, and other special events. The committee works with other Session committees and groups within the congregation to plan events of a fellowship nature. Planning includes set-up and clean-up of the kitchen and Fellowship Hall. Maintaining and equipping the kitchen and making supplies available are also part of duties

The responsibility of the Mission Committee is to lead the congregation in ministries of personal and social healing and reconciliation in the community in which the church lives and bear its witness.  Its purpose is to lead the congregation to discover what God is doing in our church, our community, and our world and to plan for change, renewal, and reformation under the Word of God.

The Stewardship Committee promotes good stewardship by providing opportunities for the congregation to share their time, talents, money, and resources in multiple ways.

The Worship Committee of First Presbyterian Church is responsible for coordinating with our pastor in the worship of God through a traditional service and a contemporary service. This committee supports the pastor in carrying out the vision of a worshipful service for the congregation and visitors.
